I became obsessed with a photo I took of light showing through the tall linear trees. I started the painting by letting very wet paint run down the canvas to create the vertical lines I wanted. I then began a process of push and pull between the light shining through, the trees and the spaces between. I find the most interest in the spaces in-between, the unpredictable shapes that outline the trees rather than the trees themselves. The soft grace of the light is so inspiring to me.
