This painting is the beginning of a series inspired by a trip I took to Cape point. The area is vast, uninhabited and absolutely beautiful. The fynbos has so many sublime colours interspersed with rock formations scattered around the desolate plains.

This experience also reminded me that exploring, and going to new places is invigorating, and good for the soul. Sometimes what we don't plan, and what we open ourselves up to is what's best.

It’s no surprise that the coastline of my childhood is an endless theme on my canvases.

Time on this beach brings me calm and tranquillity, letting my soul rest. There is nothing better than a long beach walk to unwind and the big expanse lends itself to practising gratitude.

Colours enticing and ever-changing, sandy stretches moving with the tide, and a view of home in the distance...
